As we’ve previously talked about the importance of protecting your online image and the follow-up concept of career branding, this post focuses on the direct connection between the two. It’s now time to ask, “What is your career brand?”
With the number of Twitter and Facebook users just going up and up, it makes sense that the chances of your personal information being seen by others will go up as well.
The importance of implementing strategies for the creation and maintenance of your own personal, professional career brand is not lost on companies and organization either. For example, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), internationally known as one of the Big Four auditing firms has designated this week as “Personal Brand Week.” Each day is devoted to the sharing of tips and tools to start shaping your professional brand and building your career. Note: speaking of PwC, they have an awesome section on their website devoted to career advice.
Action Steps
- So, if you haven’t done so yet, go back and check out our post on the general concept of career branding to review the resources and the action steps listed towards the end of that post.
- Answer the following questions in the comments below:
- Do you have an established career brand already? If you do, what does your career brand say about you?
- If not, or you’re still growing your personal brand, what would you like your career brand to say about you?
