It’s All About Your Attitude
When you hear or see the words “career planning,” what comes to mind? Here are some answers I have heard:
- Interesting.
- Exciting.
- I would love to do it, but I don’t know where to start.
- Boring.
- A drag.
- I’m too young to think about my career; I’ll do it later.
- It won’t help me anyway; it’s just a waste of time.
I truly believe that the attitude we have when we approach anything in life greatly affects the outcome.
A positive attitude can make all the difference. And it’s no different when it comes to career planning. You can see it as an amazing opportunity to truly find your calling (or one of your callings) in life, or as a scary, boring, useless endeavor.
Hopefully, Career Action Now will help you see the value of career planning.
In the meantime, here is one of my favorite poems to remind you of the power and importance of your attitude. I was introduced to this poem by Charles Swindoll many years ago, and whenever I know that I need an attitude adjustment, I look at it. 🙂
“Attitude is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past, than education than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do.
It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.
It will make or break a company, a home, a relationship.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice, every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for the day.
We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that other people will act in a certain way.
We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.”
