Five Things We Love About our Jobs
In honor of Valentine’s Day today, we present a special Valentine’s Day post.
Instead of posting about why we love our significant others (because that kind of a list would be simply too long, right?), we’ll post 5 things that we love about our jobs.
Andrea (College ESL Instructor)
- Helping students succeed
- Inspiring students
- Making a difference in students’ lives
- Seeing the “aha” moments in students
- Independence – not being micromanaged
Joe (University Career Consultant)
- Helping students process decisions about their career future
- Being part of a team of people that have similar goals and attitudes towards helping people
- Feeling passionate about my line of work
- Having the flexibility and freedom to propose projects that I think will help students
- Using my creative side to find solutions to complex issues or concerns
Andy (College Counselor/Instructor)
- Working with students to help answer their questions, as well as show them where they can find the answers to their own questions – I always get to learn something new from students
- Teaching career planning and college success courses – I love teaching in general and the subject matter in particular
- That the campus where I work is, in my opinion, a beautiful campus
- That I get to work with people who are passionate about helping students reach their goals
- The diverse population that I’m a part of and learn so much from
Happy Valentine’s Day!
