UC Berkeley Haas School of Business: Fall 2023 Transfer Information
Passing along this year’s transfer information for California community college students interested in applying to the business major at UC Berkeley, courtesy of the Haas Undergraduate Program Director of Admissions:
Envision Haas – Transfer Outreach Program
Envision Haas is an admissions outreach program that aims to provide admissions information to our growing number of California Community College transfer applicants. Each Envision Haas session includes an admissions info session and transfer student led panel. All Envision Haas sessions are conducted virtually via Zoom.
This Fall semester, we will conduct two sessions per month. Interested students and counselors can sign-up via the Zoom registration links posted on the Admission Events & Advising page.
Supplemental Application Update
This year, all Haas applicants are required to upload a video interview as part of the Haas supplemental application answering provided interview questions. The video interview is a great way for students to tell us about who they are in their own voice.
Haas Supplement Q&A Webinar – January 17, 2024
In addition to the UC Application, transfer applicants are required to submit the Haas supplemental application by January 31st. Current applicants with questions about the Haas Supplement should join us during this live chat. The Zoom registration link will be posted on the Admission Events & Advising page as the event date approaches.
What should your students do if they are interested in applying to the Haas Undergraduate Program?
1. Speak to a Haas Advisor
We strongly advise prospective students to connect with an advisor. For quick questions, students can call us at 510-642-1421 or email uginfo@haas.berkeley.edu. Haas advisors are also available for virtual appointments, please visit https://haas.berkeley.edu/undergrad/admissions/events-and-advising/ for more information and to schedule an appointment.
2. Get to know the business major
Encourage your students to visit our new Transfer Students page and attend a virtual Envision Haas information session to learn more about the business major.
3. Review the articulation agreement
California community college students interested in applying to the Haas Undergraduate Program must follow the most current Articulation Agreement listed on assist.org.
4. Ensure Eligibility
All applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements. This information is summarized on the Berkeley Haas website and the articulation agreement on assist.org. Every year a significant number of our transfer applicants are denied because they fail to show planned completion of these requirements.
Here are a few of the most common reasons for ineligibility:
- Failure to complete all requirements. All required courses (100% of admission requirements) must be completed by the end of the Spring term prior to starting at the Haas School of Business in the Fall. If a student is missing one required course they will be considered ineligible for admission. Required courses cannot be taken during the summer term after the application is submitted.
- IGETC: IGETC is not sufficient for fulfilling requirements for the business major. All applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements outlined in the articulation agreement on assist.org.
- 5-year rule: All prerequisites must be completed within five years prior to starting at the Haas School of Business. For example, students planning to start in Fall 2024 cannot use prerequisites taken prior to Fall 2019. Prerequisites taken prior to Fall 2019 must be repeated.
5. Complete the Application Process
Students interested in applying to the business major at UC Berkeley must complete both steps of the application process.
Step 1: Submit a complete UC Application by November 30th.
Step 2: Submit a complete Haas Supplemental Application by January 31, 2024. In addition to the UC Application, transfer applicants are required to submit a supplemental application. Applicants will be sent an email by UC Berkeley’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions in early January with information about the Haas supplemental application. The Haas supplemental application must be submitted online and includes a self-reported academic record, additional essay, resume update, and video interview.
Applicants who fail to submit a complete UC application and a complete Haas Supplemental Application will not be considered for admission to the business major.
See Transfer Students page for admissions timeline.
